Shahir Massoud
Shahir Massoud is best known as the former host of CBC’s “The Goods”, “Man of the Kitchen”, and “Around the World in 8 Meals”. He is a frequent guest on “The Marilyn Denis Show”, and has appeared on “Cityline”, “Breakfast Television”, “Your Morning”, and the CW network. Shahir is the author of Eat, Habibi, Eat!, his first cookbook published with Penguin Random House, exploring modern Egyptian dishes. He is also a spokesperson for the Butterball brand. Shahir is a graduate of the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, and the French Culinary Institute in New York.
Q. Describe why you’re excited to be an ambassador for the 2021 Taste Canada Awards.
A: I’m excited and honoured to host the 2021 Taste Canada Awards for the second time! The Taste Canada ceremony is the only national cookbook awards show, so it’s a special privilege being a part of the country’s preeminent culinary writing event. I always look forward to seeing who wins, and feed off of their joy and sense of celebration!
Q. Describe why you think Canadian cookbooks are an important aspect in bringing Canadians together in the kitchen.
A: Cookbooks have always been the best way for chefs, cooks and writers to share their stories, recipes and perspectives. Celebrating Canadian cookbooks and authors is a tremendous way to recognize the efforts that unite us from coast to coast. I love flipping through cookbooks written by authors from all over Canada because it’s the easiest way to draw inspiration and feel a connection to fellow Canadians in different parts of the country.

Ariane Paré-Le Gal
La journaliste et animatrice Ariane Paré-Le Gal a quitté la ville avec sa famille pour refaire sa vie en forêt. Avec son père, Gérald Le Gal, coureur des bois depuis plus de 50 ans et fondateur de l’entreprise Gourmet Sauvage, elle anime des ateliers de cueillette et de cuisine pour faire découvrir au grand public la richesse des plantes comestibles d’ici. Elle est la co-autrice de FORÊT, identifier, cueillir, cuisiner, ouvrage vendu à plus de 30 000 exemplaires et récipiendaire d’une médaille d’argent au Taste Canada Awards.
Q. Décrivez pourquoi vous êtes ravi d’être un ambassadeur des Prix Taste Canada 2021.
A. C’est un immense privilège d’être ambassadrice des Lauréats du Canada 2021 et de contribuer à faire connaître les auteurs culinaires de partout au pays. J’invite les amoureux de la cuisine à découvrir le talent exceptionnel des créateurs d’ici en plongeant dans les univers riches et diversifiés qu’ils nous proposent.
Q. Décrivez pourquoi vous pensez que les livres de cuisine canadiens sont un aspect important pour rassembler les Canadiens dans la cuisine.
A. Les visages de notre patrimoine alimentaire sont multiples et les auteurs culinaires de partout au pays sont le reflet de notre diversité, mais aussi de nos similitudes. La cuisine est un prétexte fantastique pour unir les gens, en famille, entre amis, mais aussi entre citoyens d’un aussi vaste territoire que le nôtre.
